William Millhoan, 65, dies

Thursday, March 20, 2008 - by Tom White, publicity director, the Little Brown Jug

William (Bill) Millhoan, 65, past president of the Delaware County Fair Board and a member of the Little Brown Jug Society, died March 19, 2008 following a long illness.

Mr. Millhoan was a very active fair board member.  The Delaware native was the board’s representative in all matters concerning Delaware’s world famous half-mile race track. He oversaw the construction of the Jug Barn and was responsible for the original design of the Jugette Barn.

“He was a great friend and a strong supporter of all fair activities as well as the racing program,” said Phil Terry, director of marketing for The Delaware Fair.  “He will be impossible to replace.”

Mr. Millhoan and his wife, Terry (Todd), bred and raced a strong stable of trotters.  The Millhoan Stable was based at the fairgrounds.

He is survived by Terry; his sons, Michael, Todd and Kip; and his daughter, Kelly.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Please keep the Millhoan Family in your thoughts and prayers at this time of loss.

Many in Indiana know Mr. Millhoan's son, Mike.  He was employed by Ernie Gaskin in the early to mid-1990s.  Among horses he groomed was Viking Commander.  After leaving Indiana, Mike started his own company.  He now owns and operates Mid-Ohio Door.  In recent years, Mike has been involved in the industry as an owner.  He campaigned Brooklet's Gerrit for two seasons and now owns Sectionline Cruiser.

Rick Conner returns home

Rick Conner, who was involved in a training accident at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on July 3, was moved from the rehabilitation center to his home on Friday, August 3.  Progressing well, this move was about 3 weeks ahead of schedule.  Conner will still be having intensive physical therapy, but being home is certainly a plus for him.  Although returning to familiar surroundings is helpful, it will be nice if he continues to hear from his friends in the industry.

Cards may be sent to his home address:
Rick Conner

Shelbyville, IN  46176

Please keep Rick in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his recovery.
