
Howard D. 'Boney' Armstrong, 88, Dies

Howard D. "Boney" Armstrong, 88, died on Saturday December 20, 2003, at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville, Indiana.
Born in 1915, Mr. Armstrong was involved in the Standardbred industry as both an owner and a breeder. He and his wife, Doris, played a key role in hosting the yearly harness racing at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in Connersville, Indiana for many years. In addition to Indiana, horses owned by Armstrong were often seen competing in neighboring states of Ohio, Illinois, and Kentucky. Some top performers once owned by Mr. Armstrong include: Ideal Gigi (p,5,1:52.3; $253,748), Catch A Tradition (p,6,1:54.4; $190,635), and Magic Pal (p,4,1:51.2; $137,612). Funeral services were held at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Haynes of Central Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Dale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Mr. Armstrong will be missed by his friends in the Standardbred community.
