Don Boroff, 83, dies
Don Boroff, 83, a native of Ohio who was known for having his 2-year-olds ready early -- and fast at that -- died Thursday, January 24, 2008, at his residence in Georgia after a long illness.
Born in Mercer County, Ohio, Mr. Boroff served in World War II with the 84th Infantry Division, where he earned several awards, including the Bronze Star for action in the Battle of the Bulge.
After the war Mr. Boroff attended several schools, studying animal science. He began training Standardbreds and conditioned three Ohio Horses of the Year -- Steady Cloud, Justabit Of Magic and Cynthia Iliad.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; a daughter, Tonianne Boroff Haynes; a daughter-in-law, Kay; three grandsons, David Basil; Joshua Hayner; and Aaron; a sister, Mildred Patrick; two brothers, Charles and Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul, and two sons, Gregory Scott and Douglas Stacey, who were killed in a plane crash.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held Monday, January 28, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Clark Funeral Home in Hawkinsville.
