Harry Cross, 86, dies
Harry Cross, 86, died on Tuesday morning, October 12 at his son's home in Indiana.
He was born August 7, 1918, in Midland, Michigan, to George and Fannie (Eash) Cross. He married Katie Yoder on June 8, 1944, in Haven, Kansas. She survives with one daughter, Sue E. (Denny) Pletcher of Wakarusa; two sons, Jay D. (Pam) and Steven R. (Darlene), both of Middlebury; two brothers, William and Dan (Shirley), both of Goshen; and five grandsons.
Mr. Cross lived in the northern Indiana area since 1925. He helped area farmers with farming and milking. He worked several years at Kropf Manufacturing, as well as at Middlebury Creamery and Fork's County Line store. He was a member of Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, where he had been a deacon and taught Sunday school. He owned Standardbred horses and was also involved with trotting ponies. He was inducted into their Hall of Fame in the 1980s.
