Janet Hooley, 58, passes away
Janet Kay Hooley, 58, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, 3:15 p.m., after a courageous battle with cancer, at her residence. She was born on March 21, 1949, in Goshen, to Robert and Nancy (Stoltz) Sutton. She married Byron R. Hooley on June 17, 1972; he survives in Fort Wayne. She lived in the Fort Wayne area for 36 years, and taught as an elementary school teacher for 32 years. A 1967 graduate of Westview High School, she went on to earn a Bachelors degree in elementary education from Manchester College in 1971, and a Masters degree in elementary education from IPFW in 1974. She was a member of Central Church, and was a past President of the board of directors for the Power House Youth Center in New Haven. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Abby (Benji) Knox of Pinnacle, N.C., Cory (Sarah) Hooley of New Haven and Derek (Angela) Hooley of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Cameron, Sadie and Myles Knox of Pinnacle, N.C.; mother, Nancy Sutton of Topeka, Ind.; and two sisters, Jane (Vern) Cookson of Indianapolis and Julie (Doug) Feightner of Albion, Ind. She was preceded in death by her father.
The Hooley's own and operate Summit Pacing Acres, LLC. Among horses they have campaigned over the years is Fall Miracle. The daughter of Mark Johnathan won several Indiana Sires Stakes events for the family.
