Jim Linscott, 54, passes away
Jim Linscott, longtime track photographer at Hoosier Park, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Saturday, December 30, 2006, at his home in Chesterfield, Indiana. Linscott was 54.
A native of Amesville, Ohio, Linscott first came into the horse racing scene by serving as the track photographer for several southern Ohio county fairs following his graduation from Hocking College. Linscott accepted the track photographer’s position at Hoosier Park in 1996. Prior to his arrival, he served in similar positions at Thistledown, Northfield Park, Lebanon Raceway, and photo finish at Scioto Downs. In addition to Hoosier Park, Linscott provided winner’s circle photos for the Nebraska circuit.
Linscott is survived by his mother and father, James Paul and Wahneta Linscott, along with four daughters, Gretchen, Abbe (fiancé Jim Lackmeyer), and twins Jamie and Katie (husband Joe Starkey). Also surviving is Inez Linscott and one sister, Jane Linscott. He had one granddaughter, Taylor Janel Starkey, born September 27, 2006.
Arrangements for Linscott were handled by Jagers Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio. Visitation was held on Friday, January 5, 2007. Arrangements for a memorial service in Anderson, Indiana, will be announced at a later date (after the meet begins at Hoosier Park).
