Marlene Y. Sustic, 73, passes away
Marlene Y. Sustic, 73, of Lennon, Michigan, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2005. She passed away at her residence, where she was bravely battling an illness. She and her husband, Jack, had been involved in harness racing for most of their lives. They were regular competitors in the early years of Hoosier Park. The Sustics' most well-known horse was probably Belmont Tuxedo. Known to most as "Tux", the son of Towner's Big Guy was a starter in the very first Dan Patch Invitational Pace at Hoosier Park (1994). Marlene was a kind and quiet woman, who loved her horses and family. As noted by horseman Jim Valiente, "You would have never met a nicer lady or a more caring person." Mrs. Sustic's funeral was held in Swartz Creek, Michigan. Cards may be sent to Jack at: 2261 S. Sheridan Rd., Lennon, MI 48449
