- "IN TODAY" horses will be identified by
checking the tattoo or freeze brand
beginning at the time designated by the
track (anticipated to be 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.).
Beginning at 10 a.m. "IN TODAY" horses are
under watch of the Integrity Guards and the
restrictions below apply to that horse.
- The trainer or his designee must be
present in the barn to show the tattoo or
freeze brand to track personnel at the
designated time set by the track.
Track
personnel may return at anytime to
re-identify the "IN TODAY" horse. The
identifier will not come into contact with
the horse.
- Three Integrity Guards will patrol throughout the
barn area, checking each horse that is
scheduled to race, until the last horse has
gone to the paddock.
- Horses may leave their stalls for
regular day-to-day activities on race day
(jogging, walking, bathing, grooming, cleaning
of stall,
blacksmith, etc.), but must report
back to their stall immediately after
activity. No "IN TODAY" horse may be
moved to another stall after such horse has
been identified, nor shall any other horse
be moved to a stall designated for an "IN
TODAY" horse.
- Practicing veterinarians and their
helpers are prohibited from having contact
with a horse within twenty-four (24) hours of its
scheduled race except for Salix
administration or as otherwise
provided by Commission rules.
- Horses may report back to their
designated stalls after receiving Salix or
go directly to the paddock.
- Any trainer who has allotted stalls on the grounds must have their horses in the stalls by 8 a.m. that are in to race that night. The trainer or their designee must be at the barn to identify said horses from 8-10 a.m., or as otherwise determined by the track.
Pursuant to 71 IAC 4-4-8 violations of these track rules may result in a fine, suspension or any other penalty as determined by the judges or the Commission.
