Hal Dale was bred by William Thompson of New Ross, Indiana, sold to Abe McClamrock of Frankfort, Indiana, as a yearling, and after being purchased by Leo McNamara, Sr. at the Indianapolis Speed Sale in 1936, he became the premier stallion at Two Gaits Farm, Carmel, Indiana. Never leaving the state of Indiana, Hal Dale is represented in the pedigrees of 98% of all pacers racing today.
