Bred and owned by Robert E. Gangloff of Logansport, Indiana, Nihilator was trained by Ernie Gaskin for the William Haughton Stable.  He was 1985 USHWA Horse of the Year, when he won 23 of 25 starts and had lifetime earnings of $3,225,653 in two racing seasons.
