New equine art book is available
Tuesday, February 20, 2007 - from the Harness
Racing Museum and Hall of Fame
The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame gift shop announces the arrival of the
latest equine art book: Edward Troye – Painter of Thoroughbred Stories.
Available online at
www.harnessmuseum.com this spectacular work, by author Genevieve Baird Lacer
of Simpsonville, Ky., provides one of the finest retrospectives on Edward Troye
to be seen in recent years.
Found within its pages are 75 remarkable color artwork reproductions of Troye
paintings with 22 distinctively reproduced engravings. These include heretofore
unpublished Troye works as well as several oil paintings from the Harness Racing
Museum’s own collection: they are Abdallah, Dexter, Belmont, and Mambrino Pilot.
The supporting text has been described as “simply a dandy read” by one book
reviewer, providing the reader with information on legendary foundation
Thoroughbreds as well as an historical insight into the cultural attitudes of
artists of the period, and an overview of Troye’s family life.
This is definitely a book all horse and art enthusiasts will want for their
library. The work is available in a leather-bound collector’s edition (in
limited supply) priced at $225. Hardcover “coffee table” quality copies can be
obtained and are priced at $75.
