At the young age of 19, Jordan Stratton has been competing successfully at some of the smaller tracks in New York on a regular basis.  He had made a few appearances at the Meadowlands, with his best finish a third place.  That all changed for Stratton last night.

Jordan Stratton made his first trip to the Meadowlands winner’s circle in the 9th race on Wednesday, February 7, 2007.  His first Big M victory came behind a 7-year-old mare, McJates Shadow, owned by PM Investments-PGL of New Jersey.

Using a patient drive, Stratton was content to wait until the half to make his move.  Following the race favorite, Stratton tipped his mount 3-wide coming off the final turn and continued to make up ground.  The final margin of victory was a neck, with a time of 1:54.4.

Delighting the bettors, Stratton’s effort resulted in a win ticket worth $99.20.  The Exacta paid $588.20, while the $1 Trifecta paid $3,970.70.  His pay-offs enhanced the other exotic wagers as well.

A standout performer in stakes at age 2, the sire of McJates Shadow, McJate, was conditioned by long-time Indiana trainer Dave White.  The son of Jate Lobell stood as a stallion in Indiana from 1995 to 2002.  During this stint, he produced several nice racehorses.

In only two years of driving, Jordan Stratton has compiled statistics of 250 starts, with 40 wins, 35 seconds, and 28 thirds.  His mounts have earned $210,702.

Stratton is the son of David and Janine Stratton, who recently relocated to the Monticello, New York area from their native state of Ohio.  The elder Stratton is an accomplished trainer, developing such performers as Ohio Sires Stakes winner Indian Fever (p,2,1:53f; 3,1:52.1f; $432,206).
