Twin Foxes at Balmoral?
January 28, 2007 - Stacey Ruddick, Hoosier Hoofprints
Those familiar with Indiana Harness Racing have heard the name Foxy Maneuver a lot over the past few years. The son of Armbro Maneuver and Foxy Dragon has raced successfully in Indiana-sired events, and beyond.
With a lifetime best of 1:49.3, he has scored victories in some of the top class races wherever he has competed, including The Meadowlands. He has made three appearances in Hoosier Park’s signature event, the Dan Patch Invitational (2003, 2004, & 2006).
Racing his entire career for the Eash Racing Stable of Greenfield, Indiana, the 8-year-old gelding has earned $840,996.
To the surprise of few, Foxy Maneuver added another win to his resume in the 6th race at Balmoral Park on Saturday, January 27, 2007. It was a conditioned pace, where he won easily in 1:52.3.
What makes this win so special?
Those with a keen eye for pedigree may notice something significant about another race in the program for the Crete, Illinois track.
The 10th race was won by another offspring of Foxy Dragon, Foxy Move. Just beginning his career, the 4-year-old son of Cape Crusader has won 2 of 4 career starts. His other races include a second and a start where he made an unexpected break in the stretch and finished sixth.
Foxy Move’s most recent victory was a lifetime best of 1:56.1. While he has some big shoes to fill, he seems to be up to the task. The younger sibling is owned by the breeder of both of these foxy performers, Lynn Wilfong of Kentland, Indiana.
