Appointments Made to Standardbred Breed Development Advisory Committee and
Advisory Board
Governor Mitch Daniels has appointed Michael Christner, Don Eash and Gordon
Tabor to the Standardbred Breed Development Advisory Committee. Christner, Eash
and Tabor replace Hank Blackwell, Nat Hill and Ernie Gaskin, who have honorably
served the harness racing industry since the committee’s inception in 1994. The
Standardbred Breed Development Advisory Committee is responsible for making
recommendations to the Indiana Horse Racing Commission on Standardbred Breed
Development Fund expenditures.
In addition, Governor Mitch Daniels has appointed Byron Hooley and Dwayne Rhule
to the Standardbred Advisory Board. Hooley and Rhule join Pam Cross, Randy Dever,
Jeff Henson and Scott Snyder on the Advisory Board. This board advises the
Indiana Horse Racing Commission on the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit and Indiana
Sires Stakes programs.
Both the Standardbred Breed Development Advisory Committee and Advisory Board
work in cooperation with Hoosier Park, Indiana Downs, and the Indiana
Standardbred Association to ensure the continued development of programs which
stimulate the growth of the Standardbred industry and its economic impact to the
State of Indiana.
