2007
Indiana Race Dates Set
The Indiana Horse Racing Commission approved a 2007 racing calendar Tuesday,
Nov. 14 that calls for 143 days of harness racing in the state. The schedule
signals a net gain of two racing days over the 2006 schedule and a 12-day gap
between meets at Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs.
Hoosier Park
will kick off a 61-day meet beginning April 6 and concluding June 30. Racing
will be conducted Wednesday through Sunday each week. This year the Anderson
track offered 60 days of racing.
Indiana Downs
will host 82 days of racing in 2007. The Shelbyville oval will open its harness
meet July 13 and close Nov. 3. The first post on Mondays, Tuesdays and
Wednesdays is slated for 4:55 p.m., while Friday and Saturday programs will
begin at 6:55 p.m.
In addition, Hoosier Park was granted a 61-day Thoroughbred meet while Indiana
Downs will offer 48 Thoroughbred programs. The IHRC mandates that each track
conduct a minimum of 120 live racing dates in order to operate satellite
wagering facilities.
